VProbe is a simple and robust conductivity probe, customized by Tridiagonal, to measure the local time averaged gas holdup in the multiphase system.
For the investigation of multiphase flow with gaseous and liquid system, a needle shaped single-tip conductivity probe forms an efficient tool. This probe allows the measurement of local conductivity in the test volume with a very high time resolution under extreme operating conditions.
Gas-liquid flow in any system comprises of inherently unsteady flows. In most of the systems where gas is introduced in the form of air, gaseous reactions in the chemical reactors, air entrainment, etc., the amount of gas holdup is a major concern. Overall gas holdup measurement may be trivial and possible by conducting visual observations, mass balance of the gas pumped into the system etc., but measurement of local information of the gas holdup is not trivial. The local information of gas holdup is useful in understanding the gas holdup profiles in a system. These profiles can be further used to study the flow behavior in the system and also form a database to evaluate/validate the mathematical models developed for the same system.
